But we are still in the middle of the current one! It's true, we are just partway through Rosi and Cristi's fabulous Squishy spring mystery lace shawl, and folks are getting a true challenge to their lace and beading skills. So many beautiful shawls in progress here, if you want to check on their progress:)
Now we are gearing up for the SUMMER Mystery knitalong, this time hosted and designed by Ann Weaver. If you are local to me, you can do this one in person as our partners in crime at The Yarn Spot will be hosting the mkal in their shop and offering real-life support and show and tell opportunities.
Ann is calling this project "5". 5 colors, 5 clues. Inspired by American artist Jasper Johns "Figures" series. Here is her description:
Brought to you by Dragonfly Fibers, Weaverknits, and The Yarn Spot.
Ann and Kate are doing what they do best: combining unexpected colors unique to Dragonfly, including semisolid, nearly solid, and varigated colorways into a colorblock shawl that you will love to knit and wear. Join us!
Curious? Here are the details:
The knitalong project will be a large rectangular shawl that uses five different colors of Pixie.
Four different color combinations will be available. The half-sized skeins will by dyed to order (approximately 230 yards in each), one in ech of five colors.
This is an adventurous beginner project. techniques will include picking up stitches, slipped stitch patterns, eyelet patterns, and simple cables and travelling stitches. You will vever use more than one color per round and there will be no complicated charts. All stitch patterns will be both written and charted.
There will be plenty of support available, including threads on Ravelry, and in-person help at The Yarn Spot Tuesday - Thursday 6-8 pm and Wednesday 12-2 for Lunch Bunch and Sunday afternoons from 2-4. Help is available at other times as well; the table is always open at The Yarn Spot.
Once you order, the yarn will be shipped in 7-10 days. The first clue will be released the week of June 24th.
Clues will be sent via email and ravelry, so you will have the pattern available in your ravelry library as soon each clue is released. At the end of the knitalong, you will receive a pdf of the complete pattern.
Yarn and pattern kits are available at The Yarn Spot and on our site here. You can also purchase just the pattern through Ann's Ravelry store. Below are the four color combinations we have chosen; please note: if you wish to substitute one or more colorways with any kit, you must order a full skein of the substituted colorway, using the 5 Mystery...with one substitution and with two substitutions listings.
